PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The goal of the Operator is the safe production of quality product through efficient machine operation, and effective troubleshooting to maximize overall equipment utilization. These positions run hand feed presses, perform light assembly, Robotic Welding, Spot Welding, Run Tapping Machines, various other secondary operations, and assist in set ups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This listing of “Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities” is designed to guide and help identify the expectations of this role and to support the department and business to ensure that our customers receive the highest quality product possible.Requirements:

All Secondary Operators

1. Use Jireh Intranet to open and review production schedule in Plex to understand daily needs and job status and make production decisions.

2. Perform daily Safety Startup Checklist and identify equipment issues.

3. Review work center status from previous job or shift using Shift Communication Sheet

4. Power up and power down equipment.

5. Use Jobweb to open and review online work instructions that remain open for current job.

6. Use plex to start or stop job timer.

7. Assist in material or component changes and transfer material to the work center, using Plex.

8. Perform quality control on parts using gauges and various measurement devices.

9. Use plex to start and stop downtimes as needed.

10. Issue WIP, components and steel tags, as needed.

11. Package product according to online work instructions. ( At times lifting up to 40 lbs.)

12. Use plex for production labels as needed.

13. Perform last piece quality control, and review parts for any potential issues.

14. Communicate press or equipment setups with andon lights and paging system.

15. Properly tag dies for the correct status as needed.

16. Use plex to properly update the production schedule with die status, and note for date run.

17. Use plex to enter die or equipment repair needs and to communicate die change over.

18. Assist in press setup, in-die setup, and equipment setup as needed.

19. Assist other team members on jobs requiring support.

20. Learning multiple workcenters to be able to be a cross-functional team member.

21. Use plex to make proper scrap transaction for components, WIP and other inventory.

22. Follow daily 5S requirements stated on shift communication sheet and judge time needed to complete tasks

23. Communicate shift status and job specific items for next shift using Shift Communication Sheet.

24. Perform a weekly 5S audit and communicate any safety issues or missing tools.

Submit weekly job efficiencies report and scrap/downtime.

Level 2.1

1. Complete the training structure (form #O3059) and demonstrate the listed skills to the trainer.

2. Demonstrate ability to use measuring devices and fixtures.

3. Demonstrate ability to use Plex.

4. Demonstrate ability to use Job Web.

5. Demonstrate proper start up and shut down of a press, welder, tapping machine, or assembly work center and identify the various parts of this equipment and describe their purpose.

6. Demonstrate proper documentation of a Operator Quality Sheet (CheckWeb) and documented reaction to an out of spec condition.

7. Demonstrate proper reporting of production and scrap in Plex.

8. Able to locate packaging instructions and properly label and package products.

Level 2.2

1. Demonstrate ability to effectively work with the Plex system.

2. Demonstrate the ability to identify various material defects.

3. Demonstrate ability to independently operate the equipment and work centers.

4. Demonstrate ability to independently check if sensors are enabled and operating. (Smart Pac)

5. Receive raw materials in accordance with current work instructions.

6. Demonstrate ability to load a new tool and adjust the counters in the Smart Pac.

7. Demonstrate ability to identify and apply lubricants. (Refer to Setup Process in Jobweb)

8. Independent problem solving skills. Identify and correct a staged problem. (Equipment issue, tool set up issue) *Does not include die repair

Level 3.0

1. Must have the ability to operator a forklift and understand company policies for operating a forklift.

2. Must have the ability to understand the difference between components and WIP to ensure warehouse accuracy.

3. Ability to maintain work area cleanliness in accordance with 5S standards while maintaining 5S daily.

4. Demonstrates the ability to initiate a service request for repairs on equipment.

5. Demonstrate the ability to operate all pieces of equipment in the Secondary Dept. Including powering on and powering down the various pieces of equipment.

6. Demonstrate the ability to setup 1011001 and 1020001 in accordance to the setup sheet

7. Ability to take responsibility and perform any other tasks asked to perform within reason by Management.

Level 3.1

1. Demonstrate independent problem solving skills. Shows the ability to identify a problem and seek appropriate support team.

2. Demonstrate ability to prioritize daily production requirements for the department using the Plex system.

3. Demonstrate ability to effectively use of Plex, and Job Web.

4. Demonstrate ability to communicate product quality information effectively to team.

5. Demonstrate ability to communicate the training needs of secondary team members to the Trainer.

6. Demonstrate the ability to successfully complete skills testing for sub level 2.2 Secondary Developed Operator.

7. Shows ability to successfully maintain team's 5S duties by coaching, training, and developing team members in the department.

8. Shows people skills and can adapt to different styles of learning and training.

Ability to understand min/max levels and make appropriate decisions utilizing the Plex schedule.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. Must be able to read and write.

2. High school diploma or equivalent.

3. Add and subtract decimals, fractions, and percentages. Capable of using various machine tools, micrometers, calipers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Extensive standing, recurring bending as well as moderate to heavy lifting.

2. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

3. Continuous mental and/or visual attention to operate machine(s).

4. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.

TRAVEL:

This position will have limited travel.

LANGUAGE:

Must read and write in English

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

1. The use of safety glasses & hearing protection is required while in any manufacturing area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Considerable and continuous noises.

2. Exposure to hazards where failure to exercise extreme care could result in severe injury.

3. Working in a safe manufacturing environment

4. Must wear appropriate safety equipment when deemed necessary

5. May be working in noisy, dusty, greasy, or wet environments.

6. Some disagreeable elements present, such as hot and humid, fumes, etc.

7. Exposure to various odors, dust, cuts, or burns due to corrosive and/or heated tanks of chemicals, noise, etc.

8. Intermittent exposure to weather conditions
