We are recruiting for a client, established in 1967, that is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of ultra-miniature electronic components. Their components supply organizations in aerospace, defense, and commercial applications.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Toolmaker & Mold Designer to join our client's team in Westchester County, NY. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in mold design and toolmaking for precision electronic components, with a focus on miniaturization. This role will be responsible for the technical design, manufacturing, and maintenance of molds, dies, and cutting tools used in the production of industry-leading miniature electronic components.
Key Responsibilities
Design and manufacture high-precision molds, tools, and dies for miniature electronic components using CAD/CAM systems and lathe tooling
Manage technical drawings and create detailed manufacturing plans for complex molds and tooling
Lead the operation of CNC machining centers, wire EDM, and die-sinking EDM equipment for production of precision components
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to tooling, equipment, or design specifications
Oversee the full project lifecycle from conception through final production
Maintain quality standards that meet aerospace and military specifications
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes
Apply technical expertise to develop innovative solutions for miniaturized component manufacturing
Train and mentor junior team members in toolmaking and mold design techniques
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in toolmaking and mold design, preferably in the electronics or precision manufacturing industry
Expert knowledge of CAD/CAM systems, specifically SolidWorks and MasterCam
Proficiency in CNC machining, wire EDM, and die-sinking EDM operations
Proficiency in machine lathe tooling
Strong understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes for electronic components
Experience with miniaturization techniques and precision manufacturing
Proven track record of project management and team leadership
Knowledge of aerospace and military manufacturing standards (preferred)
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Work Environment
This position is based at our facility in Westchester County, NY. The work environment combines design office work with hands-on manufacturing floor activities. You will be part of a talented team dedicated to pushing the boundaries of miniaturization and precision in electronic component manufacturing.
Salary range $95-100k annually plus robust fringe benefits
