We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Utility CAD Technician to support the planning and preparation of drawings and documentation for overhead and underground electrical distribution systems for substations. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, utility clients, and field crews to ensure designs meet regulatory standards, customer requirements, and utility specifications.
Job Duties:
Perform substation design tasks, develop design drawings and documents, prepare material lists, perform field reviews, and other tasks for projects.
Prepare substation-related drawings such as one lines, plan views, electrical assemblies, structural details, foundation details, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other engineering drawings.
Apply all relevant client, national, and state standards when applicable.
Perform calculations, reports, and designs on substation projects to support engineers.
Understand client standards and complete projects by performing simple to moderately complex tasks, exercising judgment in design criteria, evaluation, and design.
Collaborate with engineers and designers across disciplines and work to identify and resolve potential design issues.
Contribute to a safe environment for substation personnel, contractors, and the public. Required:
2 plus years of experience drafting/designing for the utility substation engineering field. Ideally with a strong understanding of underground and overhead drawings.
Strong AutoCAD skills
Understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission, & distribution) system. The focus of the role will be to support the distribution and transmission standards team by creating and modifying drawings as needed for overhead and underground standards. This will include poles, wires, switches, as well as underground conduit. All work will be performed with AutoCAD
2-5 years of experience needed
Pay Rate-$28-$30/hr
