Job Title: Animal Nutritionist – Agricultural Admin Specialist 2

Appointment: 50% FTE, Part-time, 2-Year Term Position

Location: Wooster Campus

Position Summary

The School of Environment and Natural Resources is seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative Animal Nutritionist to serve as an Agricultural Administrative Specialist. This 50% FTE, two-year term position will provide expert guidance on animal nutrition and feed formulation, working closely with farm managers, Feed Mill staff, and researchers to ensure optimal animal health and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

60% – Nutritional Expertise & Feed Program Support

Serve as a subject matter expert on forage quality and sourcing for feed programs.

Provide guidance on sourcing feed ingredients and conducting cost analyses.

Collaborate with Feed Mill staff and principal investigators (PIs) to adjust formulations in response to ingredient availability, mycotoxin concerns, or other issues.

Offer expert input and resources during adverse events related to feed or animal nutrition.

20% – Farm Consultation

Consult with farm managers to address feeding and nutrition-related questions.

Provide practical, science-based recommendations to support animal health and productivity.

20% – Feed Program Review & Compliance

Periodically review maintenance feed programs and associated feed labels to ensure continued relevance and compliance.

Review, modify, and approve new maintenance feed programs and standard feed labels in collaboration with Feed Mill staff.

Approve feed labels in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 923.43.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences or a related field.

Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in animal nutrition or feed formulation.

Experience working with and caring for farm animals.

This position is a Agricultural Admin Specialist 2 (S2) position on the career roadmap.

The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
