The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences is seeking a motivated Research Technician to support applied, basic, and translational research in virology, immunology, and epidemiology of human and food animal infectious diseases. This position plays a key role in executing molecular and viral research, managing laboratory operations, and supporting experimental animal studies.
Key Responsibilities
50% – Independent Research Support
Execute designated molecular and viral research projects.
Procure reagents, supplies, and equipment.
Evaluate and summarize experimental data in a timely manner.
Organize and maintain research data and documentation.
Test, evaluate, and troubleshoot new or revised research methods and reagents.
Prepare and submit samples for sequencing.
50% – Collaborative Research Support
Assist other lab personnel with ongoing research projects.
Train and support team members in standard research procedures.
Participate in all aspects of experimental animal studies and data analysis.
Minimum Required Qualifications
High school diploma or associate degree.
0–1 years of relevant experience.
Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge in biological/health science and animal disease research.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other standard software.
Desired Qualifications
Experience working with animal and human viruses, cell cultures, and food animal models (e.g., pigs).
Familiarity with molecular and immunological procedures in a BSL-2 laboratory.
Experience with statistical analysis software.
Strong cooperative attitude and willingness to collaborate with others.
