Title: Associate Quality Control Technician

Location: Storrs, CT

Shift: Mon- Fri- 7:30am- 4pm

Salary: $19/hr.

Overview

Responsible for all serological Quality Control and release testing of AVS flocks, immunologic reagents (virus stocks, antigens, and antisera) produced by Production Laboratory, and customer submissions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform all Quality Control (QC) testing on all serological or Tissue Culture reagents produced by AVS labs and customer submissions to ensure compliance with established standards and specifications.

Document inspection results by completing reports, logs, and data entry into quality databases. Identify and report any non-conformances or deviations from quality standards and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation

Receive and process internal and external samples for QC testing.

Prepare reagents, solutions, or media required for QC testing.

Meet all testing schedule deadlines by maintaining personal testing planner with minimal guidance from management.

Maintain reference standard stock and re-qualify standards as needed.

Maintain all supplies and inventory necessary for QC testing in either Tissue Culture or Serology lab.

Assist in projects related to maintenance and improvement of quality control in the laboratory at the request of management.

Complete daily work assignment listed but not limited to general housekeeping of laboratory and equipment, cleaning and disinfecting laboratory floors, waste disposal, glassware preparation, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment.

Communicate with other departments using Teams and other Microsoft applications.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years of relevant experience; an associate s degree or technical certification with 1+ years of relevant experience; or a bachelor s degree in biological sciences or related discipline.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and use a microscope and other associated laboratory equipment. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

The employee must be able to wear applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
