About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Chief Engineer to lead the physical operations of a large-scale, 850-unit residential condominium. This role is ideal for someone who's technically skilled, organized, and ready to take ownership of all things MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing). You'll oversee a small team of maintenance engineers, manage daily operations and preventive maintenance, and ensure the building's infrastructure runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

What You'll Do
Supervise and mentor a team of three maintenance engineers; delegate tasks, ensure accountability, and provide ongoing training
Operate and maintain centralized mechanical systems (boilers, HVAC and heat pumps, motors, fans, pumps)
Conduct routine inspections and testing of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
Monitor building environmental systems and respond quickly to HVAC, electrical, or plumbing issues
Coordinate outside contractors for repairs and upgrades, ensuring quality and compliance
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, warranties, and inspections
Assist with budget planning, cost control, and capital project oversight
Submit monthly engineering reports to the General Manager
Be on-call for emergencies and familiar with all building emergency systems and shutoffs
Manage equipment inventory and ensure up-to-date documentation (manuals, schematics, logs) What We're Looking For
Strong experience with engineering systems in large, high-rise, multi-family or commercial buildings
In-depth knowledge of MEP systems and ability to troubleshoot complex issues
Able to read and interpret technical manuals and building schematics
Required certifications/licenses (HVAC, boiler operator, etc.) as mandated by local jurisdiction
Skilled in using hand tools, diagnostic tools, and mechanical systems
Comfortable working in physically demanding environments - ladders, tight spaces, overhead work Preferred Skills & Traits
