A Researcher position is available in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics

As a Researcher, you will play a key role in driving scientific discovery by independently leading and executing research projects. This professional-level position demands a high degree of expertise and judgement in designing studies, analyzing data, and may involve assistants in publishing findings. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage project timelines, and contribute to grant writing and securing funding for future research. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Works as a member of a research team that explores the mechanisms behind degradation of mRNAs, with the goal of developing treatments for genetic diseases.

Designs, performs, and troubleshoots experiments that examine protein and mRNA expression in multiple cell models.

Collects, documents, and interprets data.

Communicates experimental results through written and oral reports/presentations

Works with the PI and other team members to design, perform, and interpret data derived from biochemical and molecular biological assays.

Helps prepare written reports, presentations, posters, and manuscripts.

Helps train students and new team members.

Special duties: Assist with mammalian tissue culture, transfections, and generation of stable cell lines - protein functional/expression assays in cells (western blotting; protein purification) - RNA isolation/quantitation in cells using quantitative PCR

Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $50,050 - $ 81,330

Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field OR Bachelor's degree in related field and two (2) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required or High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

BS or MS in a related life science field.

Experience in a research laboratory.

Knowledge and clinical expertise in laboratory technology.

Ability to troubleshoot problems and construct solutions.
