A Researcher Associate position is available in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics.

As a Researcher Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Work as a member of a research team that explores the mechanisms behind degradation of mRNAs, with the goal of developing treatments for genetic diseases.

Design, perform, and troubleshoot experiments that examine protein and mRNA expression in multiple cell models.

Collect, document, and interpret data.

Communicate experimental results through written and oral reports/presentation.

Special duties: Assist with mammalian tissue culture, transfections, and generation of stable cell lines - protein functional/expression assays in cells (western blotting; protein purification) - RNA isolation/quantitation in cells using quantitative PCR.

Work with the PI and other team members to design, perform, and interpret data derived from biochemical and molecular biological assays.

Help prepare written reports, presentations, posters, and manuscripts.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Hourly Range: $19.80 - $32.15

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

BS or MS in a related life science field.

Experience in a research laboratory.

Knowledge and clinical expertise in laboratory technology.

Ability to troubleshoot problems and construct solutions.
