Job Title: Data Center Technician Leader

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Data Center Technician Leader with proven hands-on experience in data center operations and leadership. This role involves managing a team of technicians, overseeing critical infrastructure tasks, ensuring compliance with operational standards, and supporting both routine and emergency IT activities within a 24x7 environment.

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge, strong leadership and mentoring skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

Supervise and guide a team of data center operations technicians across multiple shifts.

Schedule tasks, assign duties, and ensure accountability for ticket resolution and SLA adherence.

Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues and coordinate resolution with cross-functional teams.

Mentor and train new technicians; foster a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.

Operations Oversight:

Monitor and manage installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities related to servers, network devices, and IT infrastructure.

Oversee adherence to cabling standards, labeling conventions, and documentation protocols.

Ensure timely updates and detailed progress tracking in ticketing and inventory systems.

Coordinate vendor interactions for hardware replacements, deliveries, and maintenance activities.

Manage and report on asset lifecycle processes, including hardware deployments and decommissions.

Incident Response and Troubleshooting:

Oversee incident management processes and ensure root cause analysis and timely resolution of issues.

Supervise emergency support operations in compliance with ITIL Incident and Problem Management standards.

Support physical infrastructure diagnostics, including power status checks, cable testing, and hardware reboots.

Ensure efficient resolution of break/fix issues and proper escalation protocols are followed.

Racking, Inventory, and Vendor Coordination:

Lead planning and execution of racking, de-racking, and decommissioning tasks.

Maintain optimal stock levels and manage quarterly purchasing of cables and supplies.

Coordinate third-party vendor visits, escort services, and external technician supervision as needed.

Ensure accurate inventory records and support audits and compliance reporting.

Required Skills and Experience:

Minimum 4+ years of experience in Data Center operations, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

Strong understanding of infrastructure components including servers, network switches, routers, and power systems.

Demonstrated ability to manage teams in a high-availability, 24x7 support environment.

Hands-on experience with cabling, racking, KVM, DRAC/ILO interfaces, and backup tape handling.

Familiarity with inventory tools and service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).

Relevant certifications (CompTIA Server+, Network+, or similar) are highly desirable.
