Job Summary:

The Business Manager will focus primarily on tracking, reporting, and analyzing the financial performance and progress of a coal mine. Will also partner with Operations to identify opportunities to increase profitability by analyzing efficiencies, managing costs, and providing recommendations for improvement. Will also ensure connectivity and alignment with Finance, area managers, project controls, Estimating, Payroll, Engineering, contracts, Procurement, Site General Management and Executives. Will be expected to work with all these functions in both a support and influencing/challenging capacity.

Duties:

Prepare and manage site-level FP&A duties, including budgets, forecasts, and variance reporting. Manage and administer site-level accounting activities in accordance with GAAP, including month-end close, fixed asset management, internal controls, and audit support. Track and manage costs to maximize profitability (includes project start-up and project ramp-up costs). Provide on-site cross functional support to facilitate process improvements and ensure smooth operations. Grow and maintain healthy vendor relationships.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field - master's degree preferred.

Professional certification, such as the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or Project Management Professional (PMP)

Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years' experience in an accounting field

Prefer project related experience in mining or construction or heavy industry/manufacturing experience.
