Real Alloy's Post Falls facility is looking for an experienced HSE Specialist to join our team! This position is salaried, reporting to the Plant Manager with a dotted line reporting to the HSE Director of Real Alloy.
The HSE Specialist will support the implementation of company health, safety, and environmental programs, processes, and systems.
Responsible for:
Activities that drive site and company safety and environmental performance to higher levels
Focusing on improvements that will increase the level of adherence and compliance to company HSE objectives
Ensuring the health and safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors through the adherence to HSE standards, policies, and procedures
Managing site Worker's Compensation matters, first aid and CPR training, fit testing, and other safety/health program requirements
Environmental:
Review and maintain all environmental permits
Prepare and submit required reports and permit applications as required
Safety:
Provides 24/7 availability to plant, as required
Partners with plant management to establish and maintain an active safety committee, leads safety meetings, and conducts safety walk arounds
Develop, upgrade, and implement safety and health training programs and systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company requirements
Follows investigation practices and procedures for all incidents and near misses to determine the causes and the corrective actions necessary to prevent recurrences.
Maintains accurate recordkeeping data as required by OSHA and company standards

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in safety or equivalent major
Minimum 1-3 years experience in a health and safety role with demonstrated understanding of H&S principles and regulations
Strong persuasion and motivation skills, as well as the ability to work across all disciplines and employee levels
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to accurately write reports, communicate verbally with employees, provide constructive feedback, and maintain positive employee relations
Lift 25 pounds and walk the plant floor on a regular basis
Work variable hours, be on call, and occasionally travel
Wear various types of PPE in hot/humid conditions; such as metatarsal safety shoes, safety hardhat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and heat resistant garments
Hold and retain a valid driver's license
