Overall Role Purpose

To carry out maintenance, repair, modifications and alterations to customer or company owned, leased or operated aircraft.

Your Tasks:

Fly onboard the company aircraft and provide Technical Support at outstations. Where the Aircraft has departed and a defect occurs during the flight, the Flying Spanner Engineer will observe and record as much detail as possible.

Ensure that aircraft maintenance is performed to the highest standards and at all times in compliance with applicable and approved data.

The Flying Spanner Engineer is the point of contact for each flight and will ensure, upon arrival, that the receiving engineer is briefed on any technical issues during the flight from both the Captain & Flying Spanner Engineer. All defects will be recorded by the captain on the eTL, and events, incidents, and pertinent information should be recorded via the company reporting system and communicated to the duty Line Manager and/or MOC Manager.

The Flying Spanner Engineer will carry out a detailed walk-around inspection of the aircraft down route.

In the event of a technical defect down route, the engineer will contact BAH MOC and inform them of the defect. Where possible, the Flying Spanner Engineer will make all attempts to return the aircraft back to base utilizing the Approved Company MEL document.

In the event of an AOG down route the Flying Spanner Engineer will serve as the point of contact for the BAH MOC and make contact with local service providers on the ground through local DHL personnel for Ground Support Equipment and Hangar Space if warranted. In the event that the crew leave the airport during an AOG, the engineer will remain onsite at the aircraft to assess and plan rectification of the defect.

The Flying Spanner Engineer, in the event of a Maintenance event down route will ensure that all local Airport Procedures are complied with, such as Airport CRS procedures, Engine Running Curfews & Towing of Aircraft.

Assist in “On-the-job” training of mechanics and trainees in the performance of their duties.

Responsible for the upkeep and update of Company issued IT such as IPADs & onboard carried mobile phones.

Responsible for the written and verbal communication of information from his shift to the succeeding shift to ensure a satisfactory level of continuity and safety with regard to work in progress (or pending) with respect to aircraft, equipment, personnel and safety.

Be responsible for requisitioning of parts from stores, assuring serviceability of parts, completion of appropriate tags, return of parts to stores and assuring that required forms and documents are properly completed.

Maintain and Manage the ETL as end users including the procedure to print in the event of ETL failure.

Ensure that all maintenance related documentation is properly actioned and completed.

Keep up to date on all applicable regulations, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives and manufacturer’s service letters and other pertinent publications.

Responsible for the completion of mandatory trainings on a quarterly basis such as Continuation Training, SFAR 88 Fuel Tank safety & Human Factors.

Shall ensure that safety precautions and safe practices are adhered to and practiced by those personnel under his direction. Reporting any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Production Manager.

The reporting of safety risks during flights at outstations through the Trip Reporting & company reporting systems.

In the event of a SAFA Inspection down route, the Flying Spanner engineer is responsible for informing the MOC & the Quality department immediately. SAFA, Operational delays, and Safety events should be recorded on a company reporting system.

Ensure that company owned and/or operated maintenance and ground support equipment is operated and maintained in safe and operable condition. All GSE defects to be documented and reported to the GSE mechanic.

Responsible to keep up to date with roster change notifications from the AIMs system even on days off.

Ensure that all line maintenance areas are kept in a neat and orderly manner at all times.

Will be required to act on behalf of Line Supervisor or Line Manager as required.

Inputting of all relevant aircraft Tech Log and Work Order information including component changes into the computer maintenance program.

Your Profile:

Must have a minimum of 5 years aircraft maintenance experience, excluding apprenticeship or basic training Strong planning and organizational skills.

Must be a licensed, certifying and company approved engineer on the principal types operated.

Ability to build and maintain relationships
