Current Starting Salary: $49,808

Salary Grade Range as of October 1, 2025: $57,624 - $86,435

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, repairs and replaces electrical and electronic equipment in Airport facilities and buildings.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Installs, maintains, tests and repairs security access control system, terminal public address system, fiber optic cables and electrical equipment.

Installation of terminal FIDS monitors, authority owned phones and associated equipment and cables.

Installation and repair of terminal security cameras, perimeter gate cameras, pin pads and equipment.

Maintains interior and exterior lighting and controls, panels, and power outlets.

Responds to work orders regarding lighting; checks defective lamps, sockets, ballasts and fixtures, and repairs or replace electrical systems.

Coordinates with assigned Foreman and across other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders.

Diagnoses cause(s) of electrical/electronic problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or system repair.

Implements a preventative maintenance schedule of all electrical equipment to ensure top performance and minimize service interruptions.

Must be able to work with all voltages between 0 and 480 as well as single and three phase, AC and DC power systems. Both, in the field and in Authority buildings.

Other Related Responsibilities:

Cross trains with and assists other facilities personnel.

Performs other related duties as required.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Hand Tools, Power Tools, Electronic Test Equipment, Trucks, Radios, Trade and Safety Manuals.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Where "preferred" is indicated, the qualification is not essential.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED.

Three years electrical/electronic experience.

Formal electrical or electronics training courses, preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Florida Driver's License or must obtain within (30) days of assuming position and a good driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of electrical circuit repair and replacement methods and techniques, preferred.

Ability to troubleshoot electrical components and circuits, preferred.

Knowledge of electrical safety procedures.

Ability to understand and interpret oral and written communications and instructions.

Ability to perform physical work.

Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, and technical specifications.

Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and fellow employees.

Physical Requirements:

As an Electrician hands-on work is necessary. Therefore, the Electrician must be physically fit in order to assist staff in performing tasks and operating a variety of specialized equipment. The Electrician is responsible for complying with safety rules, procedures, and regulations.

Mental Requirements:

An Electrician must have the mental capacity to understand and maintain the airport terminal electrical systems and related equipment in a safe and reliable operating condition. The Electrician must be capable of successfully interacting with fellow employees, outside agencies and the general public.

Environmental Requirements:

The Electrician functions in a hands-on capacity, both indoors and outdoors and performs physical labor in all kinds of weather.
