Reports to: Head of Middle School
As a Middle School History and Social Studies Teacher at Ravenscroft, here is what you get to do:
Teaching five sections of a combination of U.S. History and electives reflecting the candidate's passion and expertise
Designing and delivering lessons that focus on both the fundamentals of course material and authentic applications in support of the Ravenscroft mission to "nurture individual potential and prepare students to thrive in a complex and interdependent world"
Exhibiting superior teaching skills that demonstrate best practices, including inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, and facilitation
Collaborating with colleagues to develop curriculum.
Cultural competence and the ability to connect with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and parents
Advising approximately 12 students and facilitating the integration of Ravenscroft's "Lead from Here" curriculum
Demonstrating effective technology skills, including the ability to use Ravenscroft's learning management systems (Canvas and Veracross)
Serving on committees and/or facilitating an active student club. Experience and interest in coaching a sport is highly desirable
Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback, adapt to different learners' needs, and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive department
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in History/Social Studies, History/Social Studies Education, or a related field; Masters degree and experience teaching Middle School history/social studies highly desirable.
