Summary:
Our client, a premier-tier 1 supplier of automotive components, is looking to add an experienced and professional Quality Engineer to their team. As a critical member of their quality team, the Quality Engineer will play a key role in the overall development of the product, providing constant improvements, and ensuring consistency of quality. The candidate will be expected to act as the main focal point with our internal engineering teams for all issues related to the product.
The Quality Engineer must have experience working with automated metrology equipment (CMM, 3D scanners)
Quality Engineer Requirements:
BS in Engineering/Manufacturing. Bachelor's degree desired
Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T
Experience in developing/designing Poka-yoke/Error Proofing or gauges is desired
Experience in automated metrology equipment (CMM, 3D scanners) desired
Understanding of IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 standards
Experience in problem solving (8-D Methodology) including containment and root cause analysis (5Why's)
Demonstrated working knowledge of core quality tools including Control Plans, Process Flow, FMEA, MSA, SPC
Proficient in Minitab for statistical analysis and MS Office software
Six sigma/Shainin certification desired
Basic Management skills for supervisors
Excellent organization skills and 5S experience
He/ She is responsible for knowing, understanding and complying with the safety policies and procedures
Wear PPE when appropriate in designated areas
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on occasion
Quality Engineer Description:
The candidate will interact with CNC Machining/ Shipping Teams and QA Technicians to ensure quality of products and continuous improvement
The ideal candidate would exceed customer quality and service expectations through attention to detail
Maintain and improve plant quality systems in support of CNC machining and Shipping operations
Accurately read drawings and interpret GD&T callouts. Communicate drawing requirements to CNC setup tech/ QA tech
Develop inspection methods for CNC machined casting using metrology equipment (Calipers, CMM) and using functional gages
Lead process monitoring and continuous improvement activities using tools, such as Cpk/Ppk, SPC Control Charts and Sampling Plans
Perform/lead root cause analysis and corrective action implementation activities for internal and customer quality concerns
Maintain plant measurement and test equipment. Coordinate instrument calibration and repairs and conduct MSA studies and track gage histories
Coordinate the corrective action program to improve supplier and plant production quality control goals and economical manufacturing costs
Review incoming material quality concerns; Lead improvements in supplier quality through auditing and overseeing supplier development
Coordinate and execute internal process audits and safety audit/ observations as required
Supervise and Train layout/ QA techs and Dock auditors
Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager
