Job Summary

The Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) serves as a vital leader within nursing practice, leveraging extensive expertise to enhance healthcare delivery. In this influential role, you will apply advanced knowledge in clinical care, evidence-based practice, and collaboration, aiming to make a significant impact on patients, nursing professionals, and healthcare systems. With a focus on holistic patient assessment and intervention, the CNS will identify issues in care delivery, develop standards, and provide consultative services to elevate nursing practices.

Essential Functions

Perform thorough patient assessments utilizing advanced nursing skills and recommend both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions for diverse populations.

Lead interdisciplinary teams in developing and refining programs that address systemic issues within healthcare.

Act as a mentor and educator to nursing staff, demonstrating professional leadership while ensuring adherence to the Michigan Public Health Code.

Foster collaborative relationships with team members and stakeholders to support improved clinical practices and efficient resource utilization.

Identify and communicate relevant resources to enhance outcomes for patients and families.

Champion initiatives that enrich nursing practices and patient outcomes through innovative pathways and process improvements.

Evaluate and apply current evidence-based practices and research to refine policies, protocols, and procedures.

Encourage nursing research, facilitating staff inquiries and disseminating significant findings to improve patient care and promote lifelong learning.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist Program or a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP).

A minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical nursing experience is required.

Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan is required upon hire.

Certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is required within 12 months of assuming the role.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required by specific departments within 180 days.

Physical Demands

Occasional lifting and carrying of weights, with a focus on patient care tasks.

Requires frequent sitting and finger/hand dexterity, and occasional standing and walking.
