Minimum Qualifications

Who We Are:

A unique and exciting opportunity to join and contribute to a newly developing Recovery High School (RHS) program in Chesterfield County. The Department of Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) will be providing clinical support positions to Chesterfield County Public School's (CCPS) Recovery High School program. The incumbent will participate as member of the Chesterfield Recovery Academy (CRA) support services team contributing to program development and providing quality, evidenced-based, recovery-oriented supports and related services to RHS students and families. This position is located on-site at Chesterfield Recovery Academy and is directly supervised by the MHSS Senior Clinician position in the same program. The Clinician may act as an ambassador for the RHS program and for recovery, in general.

Minimum Education and Experience:

Master's degree in Human Services field; one year of experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and developing behavior plans; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Professional licensure, such as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or license-eligible is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and/or psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; demonstrated ability to act with good judgment; demonstrated ability to assess and understand the impact of complex trauma on health choices, relationships, and development is preferred; knowledge of harm reduction strategies preferred; ability to provide evidence-based practice (EBP) treatment models such as Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change to teens with co-occurring disorders preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Provides individual and group counseling services to individuals, parents, and families in a school setting and in the community as needed;

• Makes recommendations and operationalizes best practices for clinical assessments, service planning, and recovery programming to benefit the program;

• Partners with the CRA team to ensure compliance with best practice standards and in the pursuit of national accreditation standards;

• Coordinates services with, and make referrals to, other appropriate community programs and resources as needed;

• Works collaboratively with clinicians and educators to develop unique recovery-oriented curriculum for adolescents in the high school setting;

• Stays updated with industry changes that enhance the CRA program;

• Provides input on program admissions, discharges, and changes in level of care;

• May involve some public speaking related to the supports aspects of the CRA and may provide pre-enrollment information to families or other referral sources as needed; and

• Performs other work as required.

Shift

Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
