ABOUT US

Rockhurst High is a Jesuit Catholic, college preparatory school with an enrollment of approximately 860 male students. Founded in 1910, the school strives to serve an economically, socially and geographically diverse student population within the Kansas City metropolitan area. Academic excellence is a trademark of the school as well as a diverse array of successful co-curricular activities and teams.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to embrace and articulate the mission of the school and to lead the creation and attainment of strategic recruiting objectives that meet the overall goals of the school’s mission.

REPORTING: This position reports to the Principal of the School for the academic matriculation of incoming students, individual family support, placement testing and transfer student planning. The position will also be engaged with the President of the school for purposes of marketing initiatives and budget planning.

STAFF: The Director of Admissions and Marketing oversees one direct report in the Assistant Director of Admissions.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Admissions Process Management – To manage all aspects of the admissions process for incoming freshmen, transfer students and international students from first inquiry to matriculation.

Representing the values of Rockhurst to prospective families in personal care of their son’s interest in high school education and formation.

Manage Office of Admissions staff in order to develop goals, objectives, and effective processes.

Develop and coordinate Rockhurst’s presentation at various admissions events, during regular business hours as well as afternoon and evening events.

Manage the student visit program (Shadows, Campus Tours, 7th Grade Program, etc.)

Organize all Rockhurst Admissions events (Night at the Rock, Open House, Welcome and Registration Night, Receptions, and In-Home/Venue Gatherings).

Conduct pre-qualification meetings with parents of prospective students.

Manage application process to ensure completeness of each applicant’s file and appropriate follow up, including mastery of technology programs associated with the office.

Develop agenda and prepare materials for the Admissions Committee meetings.

Develop and manage the Admissions Office budget.

Ensure continuous improvement through the development/enhancement of admissions events and processes, web applications and data analysis.

Engage parent, alumni, and faculty volunteers to assist in the promotion of Rockhurst.

Organize and execute standardized testing administration as well as collaborate with the school administration on placement testing.

Collaborate with the Financial Aid Director on the stewardship of financial assistance resources in support of qualifying families.

Admissions Marketing – To enhance the awareness, understanding, appreciation, and image of Rockhurst in the minds of prospective students and their parents/guardians with the goal of attracting and retaining the highest qualifying students to Rockhurst.

Develop and implement annual Admissions Marketing Plan, including development of cross media marketing campaigns (print, digital, web, social media). Analyze market segmentation for maximum communication impact with varying constituent groups.

Work with Rockhurst Director of Communications to ensure consistency of messaging and appropriate branding, including in the frequent use of social media.

Attend seminars and workshops related to admissions, marketing, and communications.

Conduct, analyze, and present to various constituents research necessary to inform strategy and market trends.

Assist the school in developing a budget based upon enrollment and retention projections, as well as data driven market information related to prospective students.

Elementary/Middle School – To foster relationships with current Elementary/Middle School feeder schools, as well as reach out to prospective students in new communities. Work to develop new and emerging audiences while maintaining and strengthening current relationships with established Catholic grade schools as well as other consistent feeder schools.

Maintain open communication with Principals and relevant administrators and teachers at feeder schools.

Study feeder school trends to determine new strategies, communications and admissions outreach.

Work with internal constituents to ensure appropriate support and smooth transition for incoming freshmen.

Represent Rockhurst to local educational organizations that can have a connection for admissions.

Jesuit School Network (JSN) – To participate actively as a Member of the JSN National Admissions Directors organization.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, marketing emphasis preferred.

Exhibited leadership in admissions, marketing or sales.

Experience in developing systematic marketing strategies.

Effective communication in speaking, writing and multiple forms of media.

Ability to collaborate with a team of leaders.

Proficiency with all Microsoft Office software required.

Blackbaud education software experience preferred.

High level analytical, strategic and organizational skills.

Highest level of professionalism in discretion and management of confidential student information.

Ability to work some evenings and weekends.

Volunteer engagement and management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.

Ability to move throughout the campus and travel to off-site locations for events and meetings.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds for event setup and marketing materials.

Manual dexterity for operating computer and office equipment.

Visual and auditory ability to respond to communication and events in a dynamic school setting.

Capability to work extended hours during peak admissions seasons, including occasional evenings and weekends.

As a Jesuit Catholic School, Rockhurst seeks candidates active in their faith life.

This position is defined as a full-time position. The length of service is 12 months, i.e., July 1 through June 30.
