Second Light is searching for an Executive Director with the vision, resilience, and heart to lead a first-of-its-kind, multi-agency center in Wichita, Kansas.

This role isn’t just about management—it’s about movement.

You'll be at the center of a collaborative ecosystem of nonprofits, government partners, and volunteers, all working together to prepare individuals for stable housing through holistic, wrap-around services.

Position Summary: The Executive Director will lead Second Light, a multi-agency center dedicated to providing comprehensive wrap-around services for individuals experiencing housing insecurity.

This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in nonprofit management, public management, behavioral health, social work, healthcare, or business management.

The Executive Director will be responsible for implementing the vision of the Board of Directors.

This leader will provide coordination among public sector, nonprofit, and volunteer organizations to ensure each guest is prepared for housing.

Through a collaborative model of comprehensive case management, community engagement, fundraising, and overall management of the facility, the Executive Director is responsible for creating an environment that leads to successful housing-readiness for each guest.

About Second Light Formerly known as the Multi-Agency Center in Wichita, Second Light is a community-driven initiative designed to provide comprehensive services and support for individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless.

Going beyond being a temporary safe place and shelter, Second Light will be a one-stop resource hub that brings together multiple service providers offering wrap-around support to individuals that help them take the next steps towards healing and housing.

Second Light provides shelter and we connect people with services across mental health, healthcare, substance use recovery, housing, and employment—all under one roof.

Our mission is to empower each guest with the tools and support they need to move toward stable housing and long-term well-being.

Key Responsibilities Leadership and Management: Provide visionary leadership to the organization, ensuring alignment with the mission and strategic goals.

Oversee daily operations at the center, ensuring effective and efficient delivery of services.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork from multiple organizations.

Ensure accountability and progress for changing the lives of our guests through performance measures and commitment to community.

Program Development and Implementation: Coordinate programs that address the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness, including mental health, healthcare, substance use, job readiness, housing services and more.

Ensure policies, programs, and services are evidence-based and adhere to best practices in managed care and wrap-around services.

Support, lead, and develop a collaborative approach with nonprofits, government agencies, and volunteers to best serve guests.

Community Engagement and Advocacy: Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and government agencies.

Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the needs of vulnerable populations and address housing insecurities.

Bring community partners together to provide comprehensive wrap-around services with the purpose of preparing individuals for stable housing.

Fundraising and Grant Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and special events.

Manage grants and ensure compliance with funding requirements and reporting.

Financial Management: Oversee the organization’s budget, ensuring financial stability and sustainability.

Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to optimize resource allocation.

Team Leadership: Collaborate with other service providers, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and compassion that aligns with best practices.

Recruit, train, and supervise staff, fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and compassion.

Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for partner agencies and staff.

Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public management, behavioral health, social work, healthcare, or business management required.

Master’s degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a related field.

Demonstrated abilities in a multi-discipline, managed care approach for wrap-around services, such as mental health, healthcare, homelessness, substance use, or under-resourced populations.

Skills and Abilities: Strong team leadership and management skills.

Deep understanding of vulnerable populations, especially those experiencing housing insecurities.

Proven track record in fundraising and grant management.

Excellent community engagement and advocacy skills.

Strong financial management and budgeting skills.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Qualities: Collaboration Integrity Resilience Compassion Adaptability Accountability Compensation: Range $90,000-$110,000 year, adjusted based on qualifications.

Benefits: Second Light is currently finalizing its benefits package, which will be discussed during the interview process.

Work schedule: Monday-Friday, but will require flexibility for regular evening or weekend commitments.
