Position Overview

After a recent acquisition, our organization is undergoing a transformation aimed at creating a streamlined structure that will foster accelerated growth, both organically and through acquisitions. A world-class global Procurement function will play a crucial role in this new strategy, leveraging over $2 billion in group spending.

The role requires a blend of proven technical and leadership skills. As a key partner to procurement, commercial, supply chain, and finance teams, you will have significant exposure across the organization. Relationships and efficiency are paramount, and strong commercial acumen, paired with analytical skills, are essential.

This role is based in Atlanta, GA, focusing on North America while supporting our global supply chain and international team members in Europe.

What You'll Do

The Category Manager will create and execute sourcing strategies for various logistics subcategories, including TL, LTL, Parcel, Air, Ocean, Rail, and 3PL. You will align with stakeholder strategies to ensure we meet our goals across Business Units and Group functions. Your expertise will significantly influence supply chain solutions, enhancing Procurement's role as a trusted advisor.

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for logistics services, ensuring productivity and collaboration.

Set strategic objectives in cooperation with cross-functional stakeholders focusing on cost savings and service levels while driving year-over-year productivity improvements.

Create regional strategies for logistics services across the US, CA, and MX while being open to global opportunities for value creation.

Support new technology development for e-sourcing, negotiations, supplier selection, integration, contracting, and business case development.

Additional Responsibilities:

Champion optimal supplier mix to enhance total cost of ownership and improve service across all logistics modes.

Contribute to improved Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), issue escalations, digitalization efforts, and elevating customer experience.

Work closely with global category managers to ensure alignment across regions.

Oversee the supplier and carrier selection process while managing performance metrics.

Research industry trends and provide market intelligence alongside financial analyses.

Engage with a variety of stakeholders including suppliers, business partners, sales teams, customer service, logistics, planning, and finance.

Who You Are

5+ years of experience in Procurement, Logistics Services, Transport, or Consulting roles is essential.

Proficient in sourcing strategies and supply base management.

Strong analytical abilities to interpret data and industry trends.

Excellent negotiation skills.

Exceptional supplier relationship management and development skills.

Ability to manage cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.

Solid multi-phase project management capabilities.

Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Familiarity with SAP is a plus; experience with e-sourcing tools is beneficial.
