Moog is hiring a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within our Aircraft Group. This position can be based onsite in East Aurora, NY or Torrance, CA.

Reporting to the Manager of Electrical Engineering, the Sr. Electrical Engineer will function as an IDVT in Moog's Aircraft Group. You will work with a functionally diverse group of individuals in East Aurora and other sites, domestic and international, on complex electromechanical and electrohydraulic systems up to and including the aircraft level. The scope of accountability includes not only technical performance but also compliance to recurring and non-recurring cost and schedule requirements.
In this technically challenging role, you will hold ownership on several projects leading the team in projects and technical decisions.
Responsibilities include:
Contribute to proposals for new aircraft platforms consistent with customer requirements - responsible for technical concept generation and requirement compliance
Mature system architecture/requirements alongside systems engineering team and other engineering disciplines
Develop/maintain requirements for electronics
Facilitate design of electronics to cost, quality and schedule targets
Participate in design for manufacturing
Lead team of engineers (mechanical, SW, digital, analog, power, etc.) in development/design of the electronics
Help design high-power inverters and gate drives to control motors
Help design analog/digital or mixed signal control electronics consisting of microprocessors and FPGAs
Oversee and review electrical design analyses - hand calculations (first order) and dynamic simulations (MATLAB, Simulink, pSpice, etc.)
Technical liaison for customer, program and vendors
Participate in requirement generation for electronics box test equipment
Maintain currency with materials technology, industry design requirements and modern design analysis tools.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience
Familiarity with the design life cycle including design, qualification, and certification of electronics for aircraft applications
Preferred qualifications:
Previous experience with Military / Aerospace programs and products
Exposure to airborne requirements
California residents: pay range for this opportunity is $106,724 - $204,339 annually.
