Lumina is seeking a Specialty Project Manager to join our growing operations team in Palm, PA.
The Specialty Project Manager will play a critical role in coordinating and executing non-standard residential solar projects, including ground mounts, trenching operations, structural upgrades, and electrical service work. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multi-phase construction activities. The Specialty Project Manager will collaborate closely with internal departments, subcontractors, and customers to ensure every specialty project is delivered safely, efficiently, and with exceptional quality.
Responsibilities:
Project Review & Pre-Installation Preparation
Conduct detailed reviews of all specialty solar projects, including ground mounts, trenching, structural upgrades, and electrical service work
Perform pre-scheduling quality assurance checks to identify potential delays or site-specific concerns (e.g., HOA approvals, electrical upgrades, "work withs," survey notes)
Confirm all necessary materials are accurately ordered and delivered to the site in advance of the install date Inspection Support
Attend and support local inspection appointments for specialty projects as needed to represent Lumina and ensure compliance Ground Mount Project Coordination
Serve as the primary liaison between Lumina, Solar Foundations, field operations, and the customer
Review and approve (or reject) construction drawings and coordinate all related logistics
Confirm site accessibility and ground mount staking as verified during the site survey
Be present onsite during ground mount construction to oversee progress and act as the company representative
Provide detailed updates and findings from site visits to the Director of Field Operations Trenching Coordination
Gather trenching details from site surveys and sales documentation
Collaborate with customers to confirm preferred trenching routes and address access concerns
Request and compare quotes from trenching vendors to determine best value
Mark trench path and coordinate logistics including: Miss Utility markings, Private utility markings, Trenching contractor scheduling, and Solar installation sequencing
Oversee trenching work onsite and serve as the company point of contact
Communicate key updates to stakeholders including the Field Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager, Warehouse Manager, and customers Structural Upgrade Coordination
Obtain structural upgrade requirements from engineering partners
Distribute job scopes to subcontractors via Slack and request bids
Evaluate quotes to select the best value partner
Ensure subcontractors coordinate scheduling directly with customers
Coordinate payment methods, which may include processing through Lumina or direct customer payments depending on the scope Electrical Service Work Coordination
Apply for heavy-ups and "work withs" with utility companies
Schedule Lumina service crews or attend utility "work withs" in person to ensure smooth and timely execution of utility tie-ins Team Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate actively with the broader operations team and participate in weekly operations calls
Proactively communicate updates, challenges, and project timelines to all relevant internal stakeholders
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support project success and operational excellence Experience Required:
3+ years of Project Management or Construction Coordination experience (Solar or Electrical trades preferred)
2+ years of hands-on residential electrical experience
Must be available to work on-site daily and able to travel to job sites across Lumina's operating areas as needed
Strong organizational and communication skills with experience managing subcontractors and field crews across a variety of specialized project types
Demonstrated experience coordinating electrical upgrades and managing service work logistics, including utility tie-ins and "work withs"
Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and a demonstrated ability to ensure code-compliant installations
Ability to read and interpret electrical line drawings, construction plans, and technical documents
Strong understanding of residential solar systems and components, including inverters, batteries, electrical panels, and wiring systems
Comfortable using computers, smartphones, and tablets for communication, job documentation, scheduling, and software tools
Experience with GSuite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets) for collaboration, document management, and data tracking
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound, informed decisions in the field
Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds repeatedly in various field conditions
Dedicated to upholding the highest safety standards in all work environments
Must pass a drug screening and background check as a condition of employment
