This will be a temporary role (approximately 6 months).

The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for implementing and maintaining comprehensive programs to ensure a safe and compliant workplace by identifying potential hazards, developing preventative measures, conducting safety inspections, and educating employees on relevant safety procedures and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify potential safety hazards.

• Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) to assess risks associated with specific tasks.

• Monitor and evaluate workplace conditions for exposure to chemicals, noise, and other hazardous substances.

• Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations.

• Maintain documentation related to compliance activities, including permits, inspections, and incident reports.

• Stay updated on regulatory changes and communicate updates to relevant personnel.

• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels on topics such as chemical safety, emergency procedures, ergonomics, and hazard communication.

• Conduct safety awareness campaigns and promote a positive safety culture within the workplace.

• Support emergency response planning and organize drills.

• Thoroughly investigate workplace accidents and near misses to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.

• Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend corrective actions.

• Manage PPE compliance and monitor safety equipment inventory.

• Oversee spill response procedures and clean-up activities

• Track key safety performance metrics.

• Prepare regular reports for management on safety performance and compliance status.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Degree in Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related field or, equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of Health and Safety experience, ideally in manufacturing or automotive environments.

• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.

• Knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety management system practices and developing, ISO 14001:2015 Environmental management System and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management.

• Certifications in OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR preferred.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Proactive and problem solver.

• Strong attention to detail.

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with all level.
