Job Summary

Responsible for all plant maintenance which includes facility operations, maintenance, downtime, electrical, wastewater, utilities, automation and controls. This position oversees the project management team for all Capex and expansion projects. The direct has multiple managers and one engineer reporting to with a total number of direct and indirect reports of 120 team members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Prepare and operate within established maintenance operating budget and monitor departmental expenditures.

2. Directs all aspects of building operations including maintenance and repairs.

3. Responsible for vendor selection, budget management, and project management responsibilities for major projects and improvements involving process optimization, safety, quality, infrastructure and energy use.

4. Manages work assignments in staffing, scheduling, coordinating, and planning of team members engaged in manufacturing engineering activities.

5. Knowledge of environmental regulations and ensure compliance with all operational permits.

6. Presents a commitment to high standards and the ability to inspire those qualities in others to the same high levels.

7. Is the executive representative for the department and must continue pushing ongoing projects to completion with the current team.

8. Has to be comfortable with constructive communication, confrontation, and ability to stay calm in stressful situations.

9. Engages team with a win - win attitude.

10. Must stay highly organized and have the ability to multi-task in stressful situations.

11. Must bring unity and team work to the department while setting high level expectations to elevate the team.

12. Evaluates and implements innovative, cost effective, manufacturing processes and techniques, which will improve the effectiveness of manufacturing operations and business systems.

13. Provides technical expertise and leadership for the timely resolution of manufacturing process problems. Serves as a resource for cause/effect analyses, investigations, and corrective action planning.

14. Develops and implements manufacturing flows, work station layouts and organization, which optimize value added operations, operating costs, and product/process quality.

15. Leads department efforts to provide technical training and guidance to management and team members.

16. Represents the company's position and interest effectively in dealings with outside contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants.

17. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Minimum five years management experience in food plant maintenance, preferably beef industry experience. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related degree with advanced work in electrical and hydraulics preferred.

2. Excellent administrative and follow up skills to achieve successful maintenance and repair programs.

3. Must have refrigeration system knowledge.

4. Must be computer literate; experienced in using computer software applications such as CADD and Microsoft Office applications.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with superb time management and project scheduling skills.
