Position Summary
EnerTribe is seeking a skilled Network Architect to lead the technical design and planning of complex broadband and wireless infrastructure projects. This role involves designing Point-to-Point (P2P) and Point-to-Multipoint (PMP) wireless systems, fiber optic backbones, and hybrid network solutions.
The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge in RF planning, IP architecture, and fiber network engineering, along with the ability to guide deployment teams and engage with service providers and regulators.
This position plays a key role in our Managed Services operations and also serves in a technical liaison capacity with carriers, spectrum authorities, and public agencies.
Key Responsibilities Network Architecture & Design
Design end-to-end architectures for wireless and fiber networks, including P2P/PMP wireless systems, fiber ring/topology structures, and network core/distribution layers.
Develop comprehensive documentation, including network topology diagrams, IP addressing plans, VLAN schemes, and BOMs.
Conduct RF propagation analysis and LOS assessments using industry-standard software (e.g., Pathloss, iBwave, Ekahau, or similar).
Integrate GIS data and terrain analysis to support design and route optimization.
Technical Oversight & Implementation Support
Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership throughout the network build lifecyclefrom concept to deployment and optimization.
Support field teams with pre-installation surveys, frequency planning, and RF interference mitigation strategies.
Review equipment specifications and configuration standards for network hardware (e.g., routers, switches, radios, optical gear).
Ensure solutions meet reliability, scalability, and security standards for high-availability networks.
MSP Operations & Regulatory Coordination
Support EnerTribes Managed Services operations by overseeing network performance monitoring, fault resolution processes, and SLA compliance.
Represent EnerTribe as a Telecommunications Agent, engaging with ISPs, carriers, and federal/state regulatory agencies for interconnection, licensing, and spectrum allocation.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of telecommunications regulations, including FCC spectrum policies, E-Rate programs, and public funding compliance.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with Project Managers, Network Engineers, and client stakeholders to translate technical requirements into actionable designs.
Participate in design reviews, planning meetings, and client presentations, effectively communicating technical content to diverse audiences.
Maintain clear, concise technical documentation and ensure knowledge transfer across teams.
Qualifications Required
5+ years of experience in network architecture or senior network engineering roles within telecommunications or broadband infrastructure.
Expertise in designing wireless broadband (P2P/PMP) and fiber optic networks, including experience with last-mile and middle-mile architectures.
Strong working knowledge of IP network design, subnetting, VLAN planning, and routing/switching protocols.
Experience with RF planning and spectrum management, including terrain analysis and LOS assessments.
Familiarity with network hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, Cambium Networks, MikroTik, and Juniper.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment and support field deployments when needed.
Understanding of MSP operations and security standards (e.g., NIST, Zero Trust, etc.).
Willingness to travel occasionally within the service region (primarily Oregon and California).
Preferred
Experience working on Tribal broadband projects or in rural broadband development.
Knowledge of federal programs like E-Rate, NTIA/BEAD funding, and Tribal spectrum licensing (e.g., EBS).
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CWNA, CWDP, or related network design and fiber optics credentials.
Experience with cloud-managed networks, SD-WAN, and automation/scripting (Python, Ansible, etc.).
Familiarity with AI/ML-based network optimization tools is a plus.
