Position Summary:

The Director of Development and Marketing oversees all fundraising activities for HAVEN. The Director of Development and marketing reports to the CEO. This role will lead strategic initiatives, including major and planned giving, annual giving, organizational and third-party events, grants, and donor stewardship to foster HAVEN’s mission of supporting survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault,. This position also manages marketing, public relations, and staff supervision, training, and evaluation. Collaboration with the HAVEN, Inc. Board of Directors and its development and event committees is crucial to furthering HAVEN’s mission.

Essential Duties:

Create and execute a balanced fund development program

Develop and implement giving opportunities, strategies, and development plans

Maintain donor and grant tracking and communication systems through Raiser’s Edge

Research potential funding sources, especially for major giving

Develop. Implement and manage PR and marketing strategies

Oversee branding and community perception

Improve market presence and deliver agency values to the community

Collaborate on strategic planning and budgeting for campaigns

Manage capital campaign events and donor stewardship

Develop cultivation and solicitation plans for prospective donors including individual, group, and corporate solicitation

Evaluate progress of development initiatives and report updates to the CEO and Board of Directors

Ensure compliance with agency goals and funding sources

Lead development strategic planning and provide expertise to the Senior Leadership team

Supervise development related committees

Maintain grant information and supervise the Grant Manager

Ability to manage budget – check for redundancy

Represent the agency as a spokesperson when needed

Assist with recruitment and training of development staff

Oversee grant proposals and renewals

Identify and pursue new grant opportunities

Make recommendations for adjustments to the program as needed

Requirements:

Core Competencies:

Diverse knowledge of development best practices, databases, funding, and foundation giving required

Possess up to date knowledge of current development strategies including knowledge of developing generational donors and understanding of generational giving

Ability to maintain confidentiality is required

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships and steward donors is required

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, PR, or other related field

7-10 years of related in the development field

Experience in Raiser’s Edge required

Experience in Microsoft Office Suite required

Experience using Google Analytics preferred

Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge certification preferred

Knowledge of social media management required

Experience graphics software preferred

Experience using grant management software preferred

Demonstrated understanding of grant management and grant writing preferred

Experience working in a non-profit sector preferred

Experience creating and managing budgets as well as the ability to develop and execute comprehensive marketing and development plans to meet the organizations budget required

Proven track record of researching and soliciting major gifts required

Direct experience planning and managing special events and soliciting major sponsorships required

Experience developing relationships to support third party events

Willing to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, required
