Salary: $48-$58/hr DOE (20 hours a week)

CONTROLLER (Part-Time)

*Job Summary*

The Controller is a critical member of the finance team, responsible for supporting the President in managing the financial operations of the company. The Controller will handle a variety of accounting functions, ensure accurate financial reporting, and assist with the company's financial strategy and planning. The ideal candidate will have at least five years experience in construction accounting, strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and effectively manage remote staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensuring all financial reports are accurate, timely, and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Preparation of budgets and forecasts, as required.

Preparation of financial reports for management and regulatory agencies.

Accounting Operations

Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including timely processing and payment of vendor invoices, customer billings and collections, job cost accuracy, work-in-process accounting, journal entries, and all account reconciliations.

Supervise and mentor the accounting team, ensuring efficient and accurate financial processes.

Oversee payroll processing ensuring accuracy in the calculation and payment of employee wages, taxes, and benefits.

Oversee and manage taxes as required.

Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all financial transactions.

Cash Management:

Manage cash flow and liquidity ensuring cash flow to meet all financial obligations.

Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash management processes.

Preparation and regular maintenance of rolling cash flow forecast.

Compliance:

Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.

Prepare for audits and respond to audit requests.

Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions and ensure the companys financial practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Internal Controls:

Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Recommend improvements to accounting processes and controls.

Keep process documentation up to date.

Software and Systems Management:

Maintain and manage the accounting software (Foundation Software).

Implement new financial tools as needed.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with the President and the AP, AR, Payroll teams.

Provide support to project managers and other departments on financial matters.

Mentor and train junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA or CMA designation a plus.

Experience: 5-10 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.

Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software, preferably in Foundation Software

Microsoft Excel, and other financial tools.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, construction accounting, job costing, work-in-process accounting, and financial reporting.

Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively.

Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all financial tasks.

Work Environment:

This is an hourly part-time remote position and is expected to be performed in 20 hours a week. Minimal travel is expected.
