Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate manual lathes to perform turning, facing, threading, and other machining operations.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job orders to determine dimensions and tolerances.
Measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
Select and align holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.
Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy.
Maintain safe and clean working conditions by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.
Collaborate with engineers, welders, and other team members to resolve machining challenges.
Document work performed and maintain accurate records.Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; vocational or technical training preferred.
Minimum 2–5 years of experience operating manual lathes.
Strong knowledge of machining tools, techniques, and metal properties.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
Proficient in using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.
