AS400 Cobol Programmer Needed ASAP. Candidates near Lombard, IL are preferred

Our client, a growing Insurance Company located in Lombard, IL, is looking to hire an AS400 Cobol Programmer. The prefers candidates located near Lombard, IL. The AS400 COBOL Programmer develops, maintains, and enhances COBOL applications on IBM's AS/400 (iSeries) platform. They work with COBOL code, OS/400 commands, and other system utilities to ensure the reliability and performance of business applications.

This position is identified as hybrid or remote based on the location of candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain COBOL programs.

Troubleshoot system problems and ensure application performance.

Work with database systems, DDS, and SQL/400.

Application Development: Develop and enhance existing COBOL applications.

Data Manipulation: Manipulate application test and production data as needed.

Responsible for end-to-end development and Maintenance of software

Duties include on-call support, analysis & debugging, documentation and testing.

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong understanding of COBOL programming and the AS/400 environment.

Familiarity with OS/400 commands, utilities, and system administration.

Understanding of EDI / LDEX processing

Skills – COBOL, RPG, CL, DB2, SQL, QUERY400, ROBOT, SFTP, IMPLEMENTER
