Job Description

Garrett Brands is currently looking for a career minded and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting function within its organization. Reporting directly to an EVP, the Controller is key to delivering accurate results while planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions. The ideal candidate has proven performance in scaling processes, coaching and professional development, and has worked in a high growth environment.

Position is eligible for a Hybrid Work Arrangement (3x per week in office).

Responsibilities:

· Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of engagement, accountability and continuous improvement. Evaluate and adjust staffing levels to support Garrett Brands’ evolving business needs.

· Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable / receivable, cash management, inventory control, general ledger and intercompany reconciliations, payroll recording, fixed asset tracking, tax compliance, quarterly and annual consolidating, and general accounting.

· Manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial results, supported by analytical review of operating performance.

· Manage all state and federal sales tax calculations, filings, and compliance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

· Oversee internal quarterly financial reviews and lead the coordination of external annual audits and tax filings, including the preparation of audit schedules and timely responses to auditor requests; ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements related to banking agreements and covenants

· Provide strategic financial insights and reports to the executive team, supporting decision-making and business growth strategies.

· Partner with the EVP of Finance and Operations to implement cost control and expense management strategies that enhance profitability, working collaboratively across supply chain, and retail and manufacturing operation teams.

· Collaborate with the technology team and serve as the business unit leader to ensure ERP systems and other platforms meet business and accounting requirements.

· Direct and improve inventory control processes, including cycle counts and physical inventory procedures.

· Partner with SVP Sales to ensure trade spending is accurately recorded by validating deductions and accruing trade allowances in the appropriate reporting period.

Job Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred

· 7-10 years of relevant progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience

· Experience in manufacturing and retail industry, with strong understanding of inventory costing

· Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite a plus)

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous priorities

· Strong organizational skills, autonomy, and high level of ownership

· A supportive leader and coach who inspires teams to solve problems and improve processes

· Able to seamlessly adjust from high-level strategic thinking to understanding the details

· Proficient with software applications (Excel and PowerPoint) including the use of VLOOKUP, SUMIF, INDEX MATCH, TRIM, etc; as well as ambition to learn internal systems.
