The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, number of months worked, as well as internal equity among our team.
Assistant Director: Employer Relations and Internship Coordinator
Responsible for cultivating relationships with external partners, including employers and alums, to promote and increase student engagement with a focus on internship and experiential learning opportunities in alignment with Colleges goals and priorities. Works in collaboration with faculty to create structure, tracking and marketing of opportunities. Provides oversight of collecting benchmarking data, reporting of experiential learning and establishing short and long term goals. Educates and prepares students for employer engagement in support of Colleges mission to prepare students for meaningful work. Has overall departmental accountability in the absence of the Director.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communication, English, Marketing, Psychology, Public Relations, Human Resources or related field plus 5 years experience
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with community constituencies
Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation skills)
Demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Ability to lead others and manage day-to-day details of office and position while contributing to the strategic goals of the department
Ability to travel to employer site visits and job/internship fairs
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Management or related field or 3-5 years working higher education, human resources or related field
Background working with applicant tracking systems or similar software
Experience teaching or presenting to a variety of audiences and populations
Background in one-on-one advising or counseling
Background in event planning, marketing or use of social media
EMPLOYER RELATIONS:
Utilizes specialized knowledge of employment trends and best practices to oversee the planning and implementation of employer engagement initiatives and to develop short and long term plans
Provides campus-wide leadership to ensure employer engagement initiatives align with College priorities and institutional goals
Develops and maintains positive relationships with employers to foster student engagement
Manages on-campus job fairs with direct interface with employers, providing oversight of logistics including budget management, assessment and internal and external communication
Creates, plans and implements employer experiences that allow employers, students, faculty, and staff to connect for recruiting and networking purposes in a safe and professional learning environment
Facilitates participation and advertising of consortium job/internship fairs
Collaborates and partners effectively with faculty, staff and external stakeholders to identify and recommend appropriate opportunities for students and employers
Provides oversight and instruction on job/internship posting system for employers seeking interns and employees
INTERNSHIPS and EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING:
Maintains current employer partnerships as well as builds new opportunities based on strategic goals related to internships, service learning and related experiential learning
Guides and shares resources with employers on developing and maintaining quality internships or other experiential learning opportunities
Provides oversight in the development, tracking and marketing of experiential learning opportunities in collaboration with relevant departments and offices
Collaborates with academic departments to build and integrate internship opportunities into the curriculum and systems to track experiential learning
Creates and maintains relevant posting sites, resources and support to aid in making experiential learning accessible to all students
STUDENTS: INTERNSHIPS & CAREER ADVISING
Meets with individual students to educate on employers and experiential learning opportunities, focusing on,
but not limited to internships and on-campus recruiting
Educates students through one-one-one meetings, small groups or classrooms to develop job/internship search strategies, application materials, interviewing skills, networking, professional introductions and preparation for job fairs
Identifies and removes career barriers related at the individual, community, and system level in support of the College’s dedication to a just and equitable community
ADMINISTRATIVE: STRATEGIC & LEADERSHIP
Represents the Director in their absence
Represents Career Services and the College through internal and external events and professional organizations
Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department as an active member of work team
Assists in developing surveys, evaluations and assessments to inform strategic planning and daily work
Assists in writing content for training manuals, handouts, website and on-line learning systems
Assists in supervising, training and supporting student employees and assumes all oversight in Director’s absence
Serves as liaison to one Academic School to act as primary point of contact between the academic school and Center for Experiential Learning to facilitate communication and collaboration.
Participates and represents the College in meetings, conferences, events, and professional associations to expand professional skills and knowledge to keep current on best practices and trends within the career development and higher education fields
Assists Director with fundraising efforts, and seeks out and determines revenue generation sources to support the Center for Experiential Learning
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director to ensure the success of Career Services
