Job Description
We are seeking a Controls Engineer who will be responsible for the development, implementation, and continual enforcement of processes related to the manufacture of sprinklers and valves for the fire protection industry. Provides electrical support for PLCs, HMIs, robots, and vision systems. Troubleshoot daily production problems using root cause analysis, and determine courses of action to promote safety, quality, and efficiency.
CONTROLS ENGINEER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, design, and develop the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, and systems.
Install, diagnose, and fix programmable logic controllers and other devices that operate automated equipment.
Monitoring controlled systems on automated equipment.
Support vision detection and color recognition systems throughout the facility, supporting production by maintaining the systems at top operational capabilities.
Plans for and manages projects to cost, timing and quality objectives.
Assists with instruction and training of operational employees to achieve company goals.
Implements new technology that supports Viking’s quality and efficiency.
Creates and revises schematics and electrical layout drawings.
Develops and maintains computer, HMI and PLC programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
CONTROLS ENGINEER REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent
3-5 years experience working in controls, automation, manufacturing engineering, etc.
Programming experience with Rockwell Automation Suite of products including RS5000, FactoryTalk, & Kinetix Servos.
Experience with Fanuc robots, CNC controllers, Servo Motor Control and Vision System.
Experience with electrical schematic generation and distributed control systems including DevicenNet and Ethernet/IP. "
Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills, strong critical thinking skills, good communication skills and a high attention to detail.
Good knowledge of electrical codes and standards
Knowledge of Manufacturing IT, industrial networks and applications.
Experienced understanding of financial analysis and relevant business drivers.
Demonstrated proactive problem solving ability. Able to think objectively through various options and scenarios.
Ability to adapt quickly to changes
