Position: Adjunct for Bar Success

Status: Part Time/Temporary
Position Summary:
The Department of Bar Success at the School of Law is seeking qualified adjunct instructors to assist with the administration of the bar preparation program. This is a temporary position from June 1, 2025, until July 30, 2025. Adjuncts are compensated $3500.00 for the program. Adjuncts will work remotely to grade, comment and return student essays. Additionally, adjuncts provide support to bar candidates throughout the study process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Read, review and comment on practice bar essays
Provide consistent and helpful feedback and writing and legal analysis
Meet all applicable deadlines as assigned
Promptly respond to student questions on class assignments
Submit student grade reports after each assignment
Education/Experience:
Juris Doctor required
North Carolina law license preferred but previous bar exam teaching experience considered
Previous teaching experience is a plus
Demonstrated abilities for working in an independent setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Word
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Communicate effectively with all groups through both oral and written communications
Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with students
Work independently without supervision and manage a workload of 20-25 hours per week
Exercise independent judgment and research law as needed to respond to questions
Broad knowledge of North Carolina law or willingness to research/ask for appropriate answers
Internet access and ability to work from a remote location
