Finatal is partnered with a middle-market, infrastructure services-focused private equity fund in search of a Regional Controller for one of their Portfolio Companies.

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Our client is the industry leader in pavement milling, reclamation, recycling, and soil stabilization service offerings (~$200M rev). Through our broad geographic reach, pioneering green- technology, and large fleet of specialized equipment, they have developed a highly diverse long term client base to include highway contractors, DOTs, cities/municipalities, renewable energy, and industrial contractors.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position will be the key financial partner for the Company’s Regional President while providing guidance to local management to drive financial results and profitability for up to 4 Operating Companies (OpCos) (~$50M rev). Responsible for financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and implementing strategies to maximize profitability. The role exists in an ever-changing and face-paced environment making flexibility and adaptability important to successfully executing the role.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Own and continuously improve the month-end closing process for the assigned companies including financial statement preparation and review, analyzing job profitability and other key financial metrics, booking entries, and verifying accuracy of balance sheet reconciliations.

Investigate and explain variances to the Annual Operating Plan and prior year.

Work with the Regional President to create and evaluate monthly and quarterly forecasts and implement necessary strategy changes.

Provide financial analysis, including monitoring and implementing KPI’s, to South President and OpCo General Managers.

Assist OpCo General Managers with managing and reporting backlog to validate performance expectations.

Lead projects and implementations impacting the accounting function for the assigned OpCos.

Build the Annual Operating Plan, in conjunction with the CFO and Regional President, for represented OpCos.

Assist in building reporting and analyses for external stakeholders.

Implement and enforce internal controls (including financial controls) and guidelines to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.

Own cash flow maximization, including oversight of collection activity, payment strategies, and CAPEX timing.

Assist with acquisition activity, including ERP implementation, process improvement and integration, and financial reporting.

Assist OpCo staff in assuring that Sales and Use tax filings are made accurately and timely.

Provide guidance to OpCo staff as needed, including implementation of new operating system and usage of the ERP system.

Complete special projects as required.

Approximately 10% travel required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field. CPA a plus

A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including management of staff and ownership of reporting.

Prior experience as a part of a private equity company highly preferred

Construction industry or project based experience preferred

Adaptable and flexible to change in response to new information, changing circumstances or ambiguous situations requiring planning and response creation.

Knowledge of US GAAP and familiarity with researching new financial issues as they arise

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to gain consensus.

Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with employees and key internal/external stakeholders.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, etc.

Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple and competing priorities.

Ability to meet deadlines and maintain effectiveness under deadlines.
