Position Summary:

The Cloud System Administrator is primarily responsible for the implementation, support, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement of the Authority’s critical data systems within cloud environments, such as Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and other cloud providers which GCRTA may employ in the future.

Administration of these environments includes implementing and managing cloud-native services, management of cloud storage, administration of virtual machines, management of cloud network services, as well as monitoring and management tools, managing remote access, and supporting various 3rd party applications that we may choose to deploy in GCRTA-owned cloud environments. This position is responsible for configuring these systems to meet the Authority’s data security requirements, to protect against intentional or accidental security violations, and maintains all documentation and configurations for the systems under his or her control. This position requires both technical skills and knowledge, as well as interpersonal communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Cloud Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain cloud resources (servers, storage, networking). Monitor system performance and ensure high availability. Contribute to the development of cloud strategy for the Authority.

Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices, including IAM (Identity & Access Management), firewalls, and encryption. Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations and organizational policies.

Automation & Scripting: Use Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools to automate routine tasks such as scaling, backups, and patch management, etc.

Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve system issues, network failures, and performance bottlenecks. Work with application teams and vendor support to troubleshoot application-related cloud issues.

Backup, Recovery & Disaster Planning: Implement cloud backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.

Regularly test recovery processes to minimize downtime risks.

Minimum Requirements:

Five to seven years of experience with Microsoft Azure or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology, or related field

Certification required: CompTIA Cloud+, Certified Cloud Security Professional, or Microsoft

Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
