Cybersecurity Engineer

Contract-to-hire

Brief Description:

The Cybersecurity Reporting and Governance engineering team will work with the broader organization to aid in the testing, configuration, and efficacy of the security control stack. The team provides key insights on the state of the attack surface and works with the larger technology organization to manage opportunities for improvement. You will be a member of a collaborative, fast-paced team environment, responsible for managing security and compliance of our security stack while driving real changes in organizational security posture.

Detailed Description:

This role is an entry level position requiring the individual to have an inquisitive nature and the aptitude to learn while actively participating in the team’s efforts to perform the security engineering necessary to maintain the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of enterprise data and information systems.

This individual must be driven, organized, self-motivated and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, while completing tasks on agreed schedules.

Primary Responsibilities:

Participate in the maintenance of security tools and technologies through Huntington.

Aid in the evaluation, design, and implementation of security related solutions, adhering to established change control processes.

Participate in the design, implementation, and delivery of Cyber Security applications and appliances, including NGFWs, IDS/IPS, Anti-virus, Web Application Firewalls, etc.

Participate in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the security engineering team and associated appliances.

Participate in the research, evaluation, and creation of recommended courses of action for security hardware/software and tools to make overall impact on the enterprise’s existing security environment.

Participate in the development and maintenance of cyber security solutions.

Continuously maintain a high level of technical expertise on Cyber Security defense-in-depth technology and best practices by performing ongoing research and engagement to maintain awareness of industry trends, best practices.

Collaborate with the Cyber Security Architectures and Operations teams.

Develop and update documentation to support new/changes to procedures.

Participate in team’s project release efforts as assigned.

Provide system support for assigned domain team or assigned application(s).

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

1 year of experience in the production support or design of Cyber Security technologies with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent transferable experience through coursework, internships, or work experience in lieu of participation in the Elevate Program.

Skills:

Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Java, Python, VBScript, etc.).

Working knowledge of SIEM or SIM.

Strong business and technology aptitude with a willingness to learn and understand business and software solutions.

Excellent verbal and written communications; ability to explain risks and issues clearly and concisely.

High motivated with strong organizational, analytical, decision making, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to build strong partnerships and to work collaboratively with all business and IT areas.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Ability to handle multiple priorities.

High level of professionalism and confidence with the ability to build credibility with team members and business partners.

Preferred Requirements:

Experience participating in projects implementing new technologies and solutions.

Experience with Splunk or similar tools is a plus.

Knowledge/understanding of core networking protocols such as BGP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.

Knowledge/understanding of operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Unix.

Understanding of packet capture/analysis packages such as Wireshark, TCPdump, etc.

Ability to schedule and negotiate with end-users to achieve desired results.

Experience communicating with senior and executive management is a plus.
