Position Overview
The Controller at OrderPort will play a central role in driving financial and operational excellence across the business. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this person will be a key member of the leadership team and work closely with company executives, ownership, and Board members. The Controller will lead financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions, and contribute to broader operational initiatives and strategic decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced SaaS environment and is eager to be a hands-on leader in a growing, PE-backed organization.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
Lead all financial reporting activities, including monthly closes, budget-to-actual analysis, and preparation of financial statements.
Act as the primary liaison with external accounting firms, auditors, and tax advisors.
Maintain and improve financial processes and internal controls across accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks).
Build annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with the executive team and private equity owners.
Oversee accounts payable processes with support from other team members.
Analyze cash flow and support treasury functions to ensure liquidity and risk management.
Operations & Administration
Support the CEO on operational initiatives, including insurance policy management, vendor contract oversight (in coordination with legal counsel), and company-wide KPI reporting.
Provide oversight and coordination for select HR functions, such as payroll (e.g., Gusto), benefits administration, and 401(k) contributions.
Administer systems related to commissions, contractor payments, and state payroll compliance.
Collaborate with internal teams to manage and resolve customer payment issues and improve AR processes.
Continuously identify and implement process improvements and software solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
Based in or willing to relocate to Napa, CA or Bellevue, WA
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA strongly preferred
8+ years of relevant experience in accounting or financial operations
Proven understanding of full-cycle bookkeeping and GAAP
Experience working with IFRS and consolidating international operations.
Strong project management skills and the ability to operate with minimal oversight
Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Comfortable interacting with stakeholders across all levels of the organization, including creation of Board materials and participation in Board Meetings.
Familiarity with small-to-mid-size business operations, SaaS revenue models, and recurring billing
Experience managing contracts and vendor relationships is a plus
