Job Title: Program Specialist - Native American Program
Position Function: The American Indian Education Program Specialist is responsible for implementation of all aspects of the Indian Education Grant as outlined in the Office of Indian Education (OIE) Title VI federal guidance. This position is a classified position and reports to the Title Services Manager.

Employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor
All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position
Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Equipment: This position requires the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines. Must always comply with USD 259's guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required.

Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Implements academic support, cultural enrichment, college and career services, family and community engagement, and other wrap around support services for students who participate in the Native American Indian Education Program.
Assist with grant development and submission, renewals and related program reports, audits and requests for information.
Actively support students and families in submitting required paperwork (Federal Form 506); determine student eligibility by checking validity of Federal 506 forms and tribal entities.
Conduct a comprehensive needs assessment in collaboration with the Native American Parent Advisory Committee.
Analyze and interpret data that will inform program design to address student needs.
Assist with the development and oversight of the program budget.
Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the tutoring and mentoring program.
Serve as a liaison between the district and the greater Native American community to incorporate an awareness of and appreciation for Native American culture.
Maintain a thorough understanding of Title VI regulations and relevant BOE policies to ensure grant compliance and alignment with the district strategic plan.
Serve as an advocate for the needs of Native American students within the school district.
Represent the district at workshops and conferences related to Native American educational and cultural issues.
Plan and conduct presentations, seminars and in services to foster better awareness of the program.
Organizes and leads activities that support family engagement activities to increase student achievement.
Assists with conducting, collecting and analyzing date for a yearly program evaluation.
Attends all relevant PD related activities that help improve Native American Program Functions.
Stays up to date and informed on all rules and regulations governing UGG and Title VI grant specific regulations.
Monitor and guide student achievement using various district software programs
Maintain and monitor Native American page on district website
Present and promote information about the Native American Program to various groups
Coordination, planning and oversight of summer programming
Connecting students to additional educational opportunities via

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in managing programs in educational setting preferred.
