Position Summary

Assist in the planning, designing, and overseeing of construction and maintenance of building structures and facilities. Review civil and electrical construction estimates and provide input. Assist the project manager to develop and maintain transmission and distribution projects budget. Evaluate and review contractor's certification for payment for civil construction work. Assist the project manager during bid process for civil work by reviewing project drawings, preparing the scope of work, and reviewing contractor's proposals. Apply cost control concepts and create monthly cost reports for transmission and distribution projects. Prepare and discuss project cost forecast for transmission and distribution work each month with the project manager and team. Provide a forecast variance explanation of outside and inside plant work. Create and analyze a cash flow forecast and calculate projects estimate at completion. Understand and apply accrual processes. Review and discuss civil and electrical change orders with the project manager, track change order cost, and discuss potential change orders with contractors. Create and maintain engineering and construction cost report for outside plant in support of digital product and control projects, including civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering work. Analyze construction schedule, cost information, and provide the project manager with recommended corrective action to ensure projects meet required in service dates.

Location: Various unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S.

Telecommuting: Permitted.

Position Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's - Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related technical field of study; will accept equivalent foreign degree.

Experience: Five (5) years in the position above, or in a related scheduling, analyst, or project control engineer role.

Experience must include:

1. Applying cost control process within project controls.

2. Applying change management processes.

3. Reading and understanding construction drawings.

4. Interacting and managing construction contractor's work.

5. Developing schedules with Primavera Project Planner (P6).

6. Creating project cost reports and progress reports in SAP or Excel.

Additional Requirements

Physical: Standing or sitting for long periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and spend extended hours in front of a computer screen.

Cognitive: Problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills; computer and software skills; and ability to read and interpret text online or in printed form.
