Position Title: Senior Accountant

Department: Finance

Reports to: Controller

Summary of Position:

The Senior Accountant is the lead for ensuring a timely close for both Detroit Chassis Locations (Michigan and Ohio). This role includes and is not limited to working closely with the Controller, Material Manager, Plant Manager and other managers to ensure best practice Accounting and monthly close processes are followed. This role works closely with the operations to ensure accuracy of reporting and data integrity.

This role is also responsible for all completion or delegation of special tasks assigned by the Controller and other senior leaders as requested.

Essential Functions:

Support and Lead Finance and Accounting Projects. Experience with GAAP, Excel, QAD, Accounting Degree and proven experience in mid-level and manager lever accounting positions. Must understand manufacturing and production issues. Desire to have understanding of products assembled by production location. Work with a high degree of integrity, stability and continuity. Meet and exceed deliverables provided by other managers.

Finance, Accounting:

Principal Accountabilities:

· Lead Development/Production of the Monthly Financial Reporting Package under time bound constraints -- ability to streamline the monthly process

· General Ledger (reconciliation, audit, posting, etc.)

· Lead QAD support, and department trainer for new hires in Finance

· Supervise AR/AP aging (review, advise, issue resolution)

· Lead support for Insurance communication

· Plante Moran – Lead contact

· Wire Processing

· Credit card statement processing

· Liaison with Engineering, Materials and Finance (Inventory, Cycle Counts and Part Number Change)

· Lead all accounting tasks, with support from Controller for review

· Support the creation of Budget Templates

· Support the creation of Forecast Models

· Develop templates that Operations can easily use to explain changes from budget

· Support all Accounting transactions at DCP and DCA

· Assists with various ad-hoc projects

Qualifications/Education:

· 2 or 4-year degree Accounting

· Previous experience as accountant in manufacturing facility

· Budget, Forecast, Financial Analysis experience

· Ability to train and lead projects

· Above average people skills as it relates to explaining process, procedures and motivation

· Above average communications skills (written and oral)

· Ability to create ad hoc templates for analysis in excel

· Above average attention to detail

· Ability to meet deadline

· Ability to work as required

· Requires considerable amount of integrity

· Ability to travel to Ohio location occasionally

· Must be proficient with QAD older versions (EE, etc)

· Must be a hands-on accountant

· GAAP – desired experience

· CPA preferred
