Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and engaging Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our SEGA HR Team. This role is based out of our Burbank, CA office and is the first dedicated HR Team Member for the office. Supporting the approximately 100 employees on the Transmedia and Publishing Teams, you will play a key role in driving talent management strategies, participating in building a collaborative and inclusive culture, and providing creative HR solutions to our strategic business.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Partnering: Serve as a trusted advisor to assigned business departments, working closely with leaders to understand talent needs and deliver HR support aligned with Sega of America objectives.

Talent Management: Deploy all aspects of the talent lifecycle including workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee development, and growth planning in collaboration with other HR functions.

HR Program Implementation: Execute key HR programs including training, communications, and recognition programs, leveraging collaborative efforts from other HR functions (Employee Engagement, Employee Relations, Compensation, Payroll & Benefits).

Employee Relations: Partner with the Employee Relations Lead to advise and coach managers and employees’ best practices, conflict resolution, and performance issues while upholding company values and compliance.

Change Management: Support change initiatives, including restructures, process improvements, and organizational design for transformative transmedia and publishing businesses.

Hybrid Workplace Support: Partner with the Office Management Team to optimize hybrid work arrangements, promoting connection, productivity, and engagement during in-office days.

Working in-office is an essential function of this position. This requirement of face-to-face interaction is in place to ensure effective supervision, collaboration, and teamwork. In-office attendance is required for the following reasons:

For effective supervision of employees and our work product, which includes ensuring all employees have necessary oversight of their work and access to supervisory assistance, which includes meetings to review work product, deadlines, and status.

To foster communication and collaboration among team members, which includes the following: allowing for spontaneous brainstorming sessions and exchanges of ideas, quick access to team members to enable collaborative problem-solving, and stronger cohesion among co-workers and within teams.

To enhance the sharing of information necessary to effective job performance and product creation.

To enhance understanding of our stakeholders’ work and business needs, facilitate a more seamless and organic workflow, and ultimately increase efficiency and successful outcomes.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

7+ years of progressive HR experience, including talent management, ideally with a focus on entertainment, transmedia, digital media, or consumer technology environments.

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred but not required.

Strong business acumen

Demonstrated ability to support employee groups of 75+ team members.

Proven track record in building strong partnerships with business leaders and providing practical, results-driven HR guidance.

Experience supporting creative, and consumer-facing teams.

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with an innovative approach to HR challenges.

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws relevant to California.

Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office; experience with digital communication and collaboration tools a plus.

Willingness and ability to work on-site in the Burbank office three days per week (Tues, Wed, Thurs).

Occasional travel to Irvine office – with notice.

SHRM or HRCI certified a plus.
