Client has an immediate need for a Controls Engineer experienced with the EPICS software collaboration to join our team, supporting the EPICS Controls infrastructure used company-wide in our Scientific, Engineering, and Administration systems. This is an exciting position, and the successful candidate will be helping the development, manufacturing, maintenance, and support of extraordinarily powerful X-ray experimental systems. This is a senior level position. The successful applicant will work with a team of highly experienced Software staff, Mechanical Engineers, and Scientists.
The Ideal Candidate will:
Provide EPICS support for the company products and development systems
Work with scientists, engineers, and other staff to deliver Controls solutions for the Client product;
Assist in providing EPICS-based controls for scanning, detectors, motion systems; and
Assist in writing technical documentation and procedures for software and hardware systems.
They will need these skills:
A good understanding of EPICS database configurations and EPICS base
A good understanding of SYNAPPS and motion controls
An understanding of how EPICS and CA can be used with peer to peer networks.
Experience with containerization and virtualization in Linux environments
Exposure to major desktop operating systems: Primarily Linux, with some Windows, MacOS, etc.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a team environment
Able to provide detailed user support, primarily remotely, but also before equipment delivery
Ability to diagnose and perform some hardware support
Ability to multitask and deliver solutions under tight deadlines
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Computing sciences field, or equivalent experience
Additional Skills of Interest:
Synchrotron or Neutron Beamlines or similar high energy X-ray/Neutrons experience
Experiences with Windows and Linux sysadmin
EPICS Software collaboration contributions
A profile on EPICS Tech talk and/or EPICS collaborations
Experience with Red hat or Rocky Linux
PLC and motions controls interfacing
Writing EPICS drivers, especially for detectors
An understanding of modern networking
