Sr. Accountant

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will play a vital part in managing financial processes, preparing reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of our accounting operations.

Responsibilities:

• Record daily and monthly transactions accurately using established systems and processes.

• Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing financial statements and departmental reports.

• Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts, such as prepaids, inventory, fixed assets, and accruals, to ensure data accuracy.

• Manage and maintain schedules for fixed assets and prepaid expenses.

• Analyze credit card reports using Concur and provide insights as needed.

• Prepare and submit sales and use tax returns, along with other state and local business filings, to maintain compliance.

• Conduct research and interpret financial data to address inquiries and offer guidance.

• Respond to requests from leadership and external auditors in a timely and organized manner.

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve departmental and organizational goals.

• Identify opportunities to enhance reporting and accounting processes, driving greater efficiency and accuracy.• Proficiency in account reconciliation, including bank and balance sheet accounts.

• Strong understanding of general ledger management and journal entries.

• Experience with month-end close processes and financial statement preparation.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

• Familiarity with NetSuite or similar accounting software.

• Ability to prepare and analyze sales and use tax filings.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with various stakeholders.
