Savannah River National Laboratory is seeking an experience Cloud Engineer to support the OCIO Computer Operations and Cloud Computing team. The team is looking to implement and pursue next-generation innovation. To implement this transformation, we’re seeking an experienced cloud engineer who has expertise in the strategy, design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud, including the use of High-Performance-Computing (HPC) environments. Experience with Azure Cloud Computing is expected, however exposure to other vendor platforms (AWS, Google) is ideal. The prospective candidate will have a firm grasp of emerging cloud technologies, platforms, and applications and an ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient. Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, engaging staff, and advanced industry knowledge are essential. Familiarity with Azure GCC Platforms and other FedRAMP approved platforms is desired.

Objectives of this role
Work in tandem with exiting engineering teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the lab.
Support the transition of crucial business applications and procedures to private and hybrid cloud platforms.
Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application and compute deployment, and infrastructure maintenance.
Establish proper cloud deployment methodology for a new cloud tenant.
Ensure resource performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high design standards.
Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
Responsibilities
At the direction of lead engineers or architects, develop and implement technical efforts to design, build, and deploy including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics, as well as potential lab wide applications.
Experience with multi-organizational projects and interfacing with external customers and vendors. Proven experience with leading small projects and managing resources.
Establish relationships with internal and external subject matter experts on multiple cross-career area teams for small to medium-sized projects.
Lead all aspects of the cloud resource development lifecycle for solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
Post deployment- troubleshoot incidents, identify root causes, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures.
Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training when necessary.
Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Ten or more years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, securing, and implementing cloud solutions, with emphasis on Azure Services.
Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics, Linux and Windows Server operating system deployments.
Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject-matter experts.
For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl, PowerShell).
Experience in Federal Government and/or higher educational environments.
A minimum of two professional certifications with focus on cloud (i.e. Azure/AWS Data Engineer Associate, Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect or similar).
