POSITION SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for a Self-Contained Classroom is responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs in a specialized setting. This role involves developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), utilizing evidence-based instructional strategies, and creating a structured, supportive learning environment. The teacher collaborates with families, support staff, and related service providers to address academic, functional, and social-emotional growth. Additionally, the teacher ensures compliance with federal and state special education regulations while fostering a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes student success and independence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and use instructional methods and materials suitable for instruction of children with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities presented through multiple learning modalities.
Provide ongoing observation and authentic assessment of children and maintain documentation of each child's progress and growth.
Develop individual educational plans (IEPs) designed to promote students' educational, physical, or social development and prepare developmental progress reports.
Provide individual and small-group instruction designed to meet individual needs of children in communication skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of satisfactory self-concepts.
Work as IEP case manager, overseeing delivery of service minutes and ensuring IEP compliance, as well as communicating with all related service providers.
Communicate regularly with parents by means of parent meetings, newsletters, home visits, and individual parent conferences.
Supervise and guide paraprofessionals in implementing accommodations and modifications.
Actively engage in the problem-solving team process to support student learning and behavior.
Demonstrate initiative, problem-solving abilities, and flexibility in adapting to student needs.
Shall assume any other duties as may from time to time be delegated by immediate Supervisor. Furthermore, the Supervisor shall make any adjustments in the scope of responsibilities as outlined above which will be in the best interest of the school district. QUALIFICATIONS
Professional Educator License (PEL)
Bachelor's degree in early childhood education
Early Childhood Special Education (ECT) OR Endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education (ECS3)
Endorsement in English Language Learner
