Job Duties
Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of Accounts Payable Technician in Fiscal Services. Process payment vouchers for products and services received by or rendered to Eastern State Hospital and submit electronically to the Department of Accounts. Vendor payments are processed using the FMS accounting system in accordance with the Prompt Pay Act, Commonwealth of Virginia, and Hospital policies. Assist in preparing 1099MISC in accordance with hospital and IRS procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of Accounting/Bookkeeping principles and practices in reference to Accounts Payable and automated accounting system. Skilled in keyboarding, calculator and other automated office systems. Experience in compiling, coding, batching, and keying data. Ability to perform detail work with numerical data, make mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately. Demonstrate strong math, analytical and reasoning skills in identifying and resolving payment and data entry problems. Experienced with an automated Purchasing system and how it relates to Accounts Payable processing. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports. Knowledge of PC operations and the use of spreadsheets and word processing.
