POSITION SUMMARY

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Water/Wastewater Maintenance Crew Leader within the Public Works Department at DuPage County.

This position is located at the Marionbrook Underground Facility at 17w440 N. Frontage Road, Darien, IL 60561.

This position is included in the IOUE - LOCAL 150 Bargaining Unit - Public Works

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:

Installs and repairs small pumps, valves, piping and plumbing systems

Performs minor design work and fabricates small structures for repair of stormwater infrastructure.

Supervises the work of subordinate personnel engaged in equipment operations and crew duties

Serves as a lead worker and directs a crew to perform assigned duties

Maintains, installs, troubleshoots, rebuilds, repairs, and replaces various equipment (e.g. greases and lubricates engines, motors, and pumps, etc.) used in the operation of treatment plants and sewer and water systems

Maintains and repairs facilities and assists with the Department’s construction and excavation projects

Assists the supervisor with administrative duties including ordering parts and filling out material requests

Holds integral role in stream blockage and debris jam removals

Operates a backhoe, vactor, front end loader, light bulldozers and hydraulic shoring jacks and other heavy equipment in excavation and repair of sewers, pumps and for storm water drainage projects

Performs restoration work including landscaping, concrete finishing, and asphalt placement

Operates more complex equipment for training purposes

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

Five (5) years of experience in maintenance and repair of sewer and water systems plus one (1) year of supervisory experience

Must possess and maintain in good standing a valid Illinois Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B with an air brakes endorsement This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing requirements of the United States Department of Transportation - Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.

A post offer drug screen is required.
