Class Concept

As part of an evolving, fast-paced environment with a strong customer service orientation, the successful candidate's primary area of responsibility will involve direct supervision and proactive management of daily operations at the Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC).

Scheduling/Availability: We are currently looking for individuals available to work the following shifts,

Wednesdays, 4:30-9:45pm

Saturdays, 7:30am-3:30pm

Sundays, 2:30pm-variable end time (*this shift typically ends between 8:30pm and 10:30pm, depending on programming in the building)

The successful candidate will also have the ability to pick up additional sub shifts

Examples of Duties

The successful candidate will be under the direction of the Recreation Operations Supervisor. Manager on Duty (MOD) duties include, but are not limited to:

Overseeing daily operations and scheduled programs

Processing and coordinating facility reservations during assigned duty hours;

Supervising on-duty part-time staff throughout the Recreation Center during assigned hours (e.g. Lifeguards, Front Desk Workers, Program Instructors, Fitness Attendants and Guest Services)

Conducting inspections to ensure that all areas throughout the DCRC are in safe operating condition

Interacting with customers and the public to answer customer inquiries and resolve problems and communicating such to upper management

Identifying custodial and maintenance needs, interpreting and enforcing City and Divisional policies, procedures, rules and regulations

Completing event/rental space setups and tear downs as needed, including lifting of tables and chairs

Assisting with the preparation of reports

Completing special projects as assigned

Performing regular DCRC daily tasks (e.g. operating cash register, answering phones, program registration, drawer balancing, safe counts, maintenance inspections, data collection and record keeping)As part of the duties listed above, the successful candidate must not only recognize and specifically identify any issues or concerns, but also come up with solutions that solve the problem and reduce the likelihood of similar issues coming up in the future. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing guests and staff during emergency situations (adverse weather, fire, lost child, etc.). The successful candidate will also serve as primary responder for all health-related emergencies. Additional assignments may be made based on the strengths of the preferred candidate. These assignments may include: monthly safety inspections, processing comment cards, management of incident and accident report database and merchandise stocking and inventory.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of 6 months experience in specialized, job-related recreation or related field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience

Considerable professional/administration experience in a recreation center environment, including supervisory and customer service experience, with some experience in the operation of aquatic facilities preferred

Current certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer with First Aid and Emergency Oxygen Administration Certifications, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire

These certifications must remain current and the candidate must demonstrate competency at all times in order to work in an MOD capacity

Preferred Qualifications

Current Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) license

Physical Requirements

Ability to move, lift and otherwise manually transfer equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 lbs.Other Requirements

The nature of this position requires the successful candidate work approximately 15-20 hours per week

The successful candidate must also be available to help cover occasional substitute shifts. These hours will include evenings, weekends and holidays.Supplemental Information: All positions within this job classification have been designated as Casual in nature and all employees serving in such positions are considered to be Casual Employees.
