Salary: Open to discussion

Equity: 0.25% 0.75% (4-year vesting)

As we scale, we are seeking a results-driven Controller with deep SaaS accounting expertise to lead our financial operations and support the companys strategy. The ideal candidate will bring a strong command of SaaS Accounting (ASC 606), SaaS KPI calculations, and hands-on controllership in a high-growth tech environment.

Role Summary

This is a strategic and operational accounting role requiring both leadership and hands-on execution. The Controller will own financial reporting, revenue recognition, compliance, and systems while building out a scalable finance function. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a startup environment and has a deep understanding of SaaS business models and financial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Compliance

Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).

Lead month-end and year-end close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Manage and reconcile deferred revenue per ASC 606 and SaaS standards.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax filings (income, sales/use, etc.).

Tax, Treasury & Bookkeeping

Oversee banking relationships, accounts, payroll and monthly wire transfers.

Maintain hands-on bookkeeping during early-stage operations.

Manage payroll and ensure compliance with compensation-related filings.

Internal Controls & Risk Management

Design and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.

Identify financial risks and work with leadership on mitigation strategies.

Lead audit preparation and manage auditor relationships.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning

Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.

Track and report on key financial KPIs, cash flow, and budget adherence.

Team Building & Leadership

Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting and billing team.

Establish standards for accuracy, accountability, and professional development.

Strategic Finance & Analysis

Provide executive leadership with clear financial insights and data-driven recommendations.

Identify cost optimization and revenue growth opportunities.

SaaS Revenue Operations

Oversee subscription billing, renewals, credits, and adjustments.

Manage MRR/ARR reporting and deferred revenue accuracy.

Support automation of billing, renewals, and reporting systems.

Business Partnership

Work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product, and HR to ensure financial alignment.

Enable operational transparency and informed business decisions.

Investor & Board Support

Support investor reporting and financial due diligence as required.

Experience supporting fundraising efforts, including preparation of financial models, investor materials, and participation in due diligence processes.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

CPA certification is strongly preferred.

810+ years in accounting/finance with 35 years in SaaS, preferably at a high-growth company.

Deep expertise in GAAP, ASC 606, and subscription revenue recognition.

Proficient in ERP, billing, and reporting tools (Maxio, QuickBooks highly desirable).

Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.

Clear communicator with collaborative, growth-oriented mindset.

Demonstrated involvement in fundraising activities, such as financial modeling, preparing investor decks, and managing due diligence documentation in collaboration with executive leadership.

Must have experience being hands-on with bookkeeping while building the finance function.
